New York State Crime Stoppers, acting as a resource for the Town of Mount Pleasant Police Department is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information that directly leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the serious injury and attempted murder of two Mount Pleasant police officers.
On November 14th, 2015 at approximately 12:30 am officers from the Mt Pleasant Police Department where investigating a report of vehicles drag racing on Phelps Way (Route 117) in the Sleepy Hollow section of Mount Pleasant. A large number of vehicles fled the scene upon police arrival. A short time later a vehicle that had been involved in the initial incident returned to the scene. MPPD officers were able to have that vehicle stop and were in the process of interviewing the driver, when he intentionally placed the vehicle into reverse, hitting the two officers with the open driver’s door of the vehicle. Both officers received serious physical injury and were hospitalized.
The suspect is described as a heavy set white or Hispanic male, approximately 30 years old and weighing 300 pounds. He was also described as having a shaved head and wearing black rimmed glasses. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a mid 1990’s Honda Civic color black with damage to the driver’s door and driver side front quarter panel. The vehicle is equipped for street racing and has distinctive aftermarket rims, bumper and tow hitch. The suspect and/or vehicle may be located in Westchester or Bronx Counties.
